Michael Kasprowicz, the Queensland bowler who was dropped during Australia's Ashes loss, will return to Glamorgan next winter for his fourth season with the county. Middlesex, Leicestershire and Essex were also interested in Kasprowicz, but he settled on Cardiff because it was the most comfortable option.
"I'm just relieved all the negotiations are done and dusted and we have managed to come to an agreement," Kasprowicz, 33, told PA. "I'm more than happy to come back to Glamorgan because my family and I love Cardiff and the people there. There were obviously other avenues I had to explore but in the end Glamorgan is probably where we feel more comfortable." Kasprowicz was the county's Player of the Year in 2003 after taking 77 first-class wickets and he will join Matthew Elliott, the South Australia batsman, in Cardiff in 2006.
Adam Gilchrist will play his third game for Western Australia this summer when the Warriors take on South Australia in an ING Cup match at Adelaide on Saturday. Gilchrist is one of three changes to the side that lost to New South Wales on Friday with Mike Hussey and Mathew Inness replacing Luke Ronchi, Scott Meuleman and Michael Clark. Hussey will lead the side despite the appearance of Gilchrist, the Australia vice-captain, and Damien Martyn, who guided the side over the past week.
Western Australia squad Mike Hussey (capt), Chris Rogers, Adam Gilchrist (wk), Marcus North, Damien Martyn, Adam Voges, Shaun Marsh, Brett Dorey, Darren Wates, Brad Williams, Mathew Inness and Peter Worthington.
