Brad Haddin, the New South Wales wicketkeeper, will lead a 14-man Australia A squad on the forthcoming tour of Pakistan in September. The side will play two four-day matches against Pakistan A in Rawalpindi, and three one-day matches against the same opponents in Lahore. Michael Hussey, now a regular in Australia's one-day team, has been named vice-captain.
The squad includes four players currently with the touring party in England, where Australia are contesting the Ashes. They are Haddin, Brad Hodge, Shaun Tait, and Stuart Clark. "We have selected a squad of players that we consider could play for Australia in the future," said Trevor Hohns, the chairman of selectors in a Cricket Australia release. "We believe it is a good balance for the tour which includes two four-day matches and three one-day matches."
