Islamabad, Oct 27: The Islamabad Cricket Association (ICA)ad hoc
committee slapped a life ban on its former secretary Jawadul Hassan
and has also refrained all affiliated clubs to disassociate themselves
from the official.
The ad hoc committee has also written to Brig Shami, who is heading
the scrutiny of clubs in Rawalpindi/Islamabad and NWFP zone, not to
allow Jawad to enter his name in the club.
The action was announced in response to the press release issued by
the former secretary demanding ouster of the ICA ad hoc committee
which he alleged was damaging cricket in the capital.
An official of ICA maintained that the Pakistan Cricket Board Ad hoc
Committee had also endorsed the decision taken by the ICA ad hoc body.
When contacted Jawadul Hassan termed the decision as "arbitrary". This
is in complete violation of rules, besides I was not given any show
cause notice to explain my position. Furthermore, the ad hoc body does
not have a mandate to debar any official from cricket, he said.
Jawad had disclosed that former PCB ad hoc committee chairman
Mujeeb-ur-Rehman was forcefully heading the ICA although his tenure
had completed in January 1998.
Numerous attempts to contact to confirm the PCB stand on the issue
through chairman DTMC Javed Zaman remained futile.
