Defending Champions Holmwood Technical were well placed at 115 for
two in reply to York Castle's 185 at St. Elizabeth Technical in their
Headley Cup cricket semi-final match yesterday.
In the other semi-final at Manchester High, many-time champions St.
Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) made 195 and Vere were 25 for two at the
close. Both matches continue today.
Sent in to bat, York Castle arrived at their total through an
attacking innings of 89 by captain Rashard Marshall, who cracked 13
fours and one six. He was stumped by Kelvin Jones off national
under-19 spinner Kevin Peart who claimed four for 57 off 11 overs.
Opening batsman Derwin Hillock made 26, while Xavier Marshall and
Ronald Walker made 11 each. Peart received good support from paceman
Evon McInnis, four for 35.
When Holmwood replied, openers Lanslot Warren (36) and Dwayne Ewart
(33) posted 71 runs for the first wicket. At the close, Kevin Wynter
and Junior Lawrence were 21 and 14 not out respectively.
At Manchester High:
St. Elizabeth Technical 195 - Dalwin Russell 38, Brenton Parchment 35,
skipper Mel Wint 22 not out; offspinner Sadeek Brown took six for 52
off 29 overs, Omar Dennis two for 49.
Vere were in early trouble at 25 for two with national under-15
paceman Kamal Dennis taking both wickets for eight runs.
