CRICKET: Many-time champions Wolmer's were bowled out for 285
runs in their Sunlight Cup Group B semi-final match up with last
year's beaten finalists Jonathan Grant High at the close of play
yesterday at Heroes' Circle.
In reply, Jonathan Grant were 10 without loss at stumps.
Wolmer's, after winning the toss, got a good start from openers
Donovan Pagon (43) and Damion Reece (27) who posted a solid
partnership of 83 runs before Reece was caught by Bryan Lundy off
Jonathan Grant's captain Tamar Lambert.
Jonathan Grant took the initiative when they took two quick
wickets for just 24 runs to have the home team reeling on 107 for
three at lunch as captain Carlton Baugh Jnr (9) caught Leroy
Wilson off leg-spinner Leon Rodney and Pagon bowled by off
spinner Andre O'Sullivan were both back into the pavilion.
After the interval, wickets tumbled steadily but Andre Miller
steered Wolmer's to 139 for five with a useful 24 before he was
caught by Lundy off Rodney.
Wolmer's who were 157 for six, were in further trouble when they
got to tea on 202 for eight before Dwayne Pagon (Donovan's uncle)
and No. 11 batsman Paul Alexander capitalised on some loose
bowling and poor fielding by the Jonathan Grant players who gave
away 45 extras. The pair put on a frustrating 82 runs for the
last wicket before Rodney ended the partnership when he had
Alexander caught by wicketkeeper Greg Hare for a well-played 47
runs.
