Jacques Kallis, who has missed South Africa's first two Tests against England because the death of his father Henry in Cape Town, is due to return to England on Tuesday, according to the team spokesman Gerald de Kock.
Kallis, 27, returned home after South Africa's defeat in the NatWest Series final, to be with his father during the final stages of his battle against lung cancer. His place in the Test side has been filled by Andrew Hall, who was recalled to the squad from Worcestershire, where he had been playing county cricket.
Kallis is a near-certainty to play at Trent Bridge on August 14, despite South Africa's success in his absence. There are two warm-up games between the Tests, and Kallis is likely to play in both. On August 6, they play a one-day match against the Professional Cricketers' Association at Shenley, before starting a three-day match against Kent at Canterbury the following day.
