Leicestershire County Cricket Club arrived here, in Anguilla this past Wednesday on a pre-season tour that will include four cricket matches in all. Preseason tours are not uncommon among County Cricket Clubs who wish to have their players in top form for the grueling six-month County season. They are to play Anguilla this Friday in a two-day match at the Ronald Webster Park after a training session on Thursday. Leicestershire will then travel to St. Maarten to play in a one-day match on Sunday before returning to Anguilla to play two one-day matches on Tuesday and Thursday.
Anguilla, as defending Leeward Islands One-Day Champs, will also hope to use these matches as practice ahead of the 2000 Leeward Islands Cricket Tournament. The Anguilla team will also be strengthened by the addition of Leeward Island's players Runako Morton and Sylvester `Bouncin' Joseph as it was felt that Anguilla would not be strong enough to provide Leicestershire with adequate competition. The full Anguilla team reads: Alex Adams (captain), Chaka Hodge (vice captain), Omari Banks, Zachary Kenworthy, Leon Lake, Girdon Connor, Kerrol Webster, Marlon Martin, Richard Stevens, Eversley Browne, Mitchell Harrigan, Michelle Morton, Rudolph Proctor, Paulivor Rogers, Terry Adams, Runako Morton (Nevis) and Sylvester Joseph (Antigua).
