Islamabad, Oct 13: Just three months after an interim set-up was
placed at the helms of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) the overnight
happenings may lead to have put up the stakes for yet another change.
However, any move in the ad hoc committee of PCB will have to come
from President Rafiq Tarar who is also the patron of the cricket
board in Pakistan, it was stated here.
Although, urgency is being expressed in the cricketing circles owing
to the international commitments of the Pakistan team which includes
a Australian tour later this month, the officials sources were not
willing to indulge in any such issue which figures very low in the
priorities.
Chairman PCB ad hoc Committee Mujeebur Rehman, whose Redco offices
were seized by army personnel last night, was not available for
comment. His wife could only state that Mujeeb was with his elder
brother Saifur Rehman and has made no contacts with the family.
However, she added that he was safe but could not be reached.
Talking to Dawn from his Lahore residence Javed Zaman who heads the
Domestic Tournament Monitoring Committee (DTMC) said that everything
was in place till any further orders. "I have attended the offices
today and carried out the work," he said while adding that his
notification has been made through a presidential order and he would
continue to work.
Javed Zaman further added in clear words that Pakistan's
international commitments are going-on as planned and there has been
no change whatsoever in the forthcoming domestic tournament starting
Oct 16.
