Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has retained Brig (retd)
Khawaja Mohammad Nasir as the manager of the team for the Singapore
tour.
PCB director Yawar Saeed said from Islamabad on Thursday that the
decision to retain him was taken by the chairman of the board Lt Gen
Tauqir Zia. He, however, said Nasir has been appointed only for the
Singapore trip.
An announcement of the manager for the Toronto tour would be made
later.
Nasir angered the Indians when he called their country a `hub of
bookies' at the launching ceremony of the triangular one-day series in
Colombo last month. Nasir was pulled up by the PCB chairman who told
him to stay away from making policy statements.
Yawar said the selectors would submit the 14-man team for the
Singapore series to the PCB chairman in Karachi on Saturday. He said
the team and the captain would be announced on the same day after the
general gives the approval.
The PCB director denied that Miandad has claimed Rs 7.2 million as his
coaching fee.
