Pakistan leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed has been dropped for the second Test match against England starting in Faislabad next Wednesday while experienced fast bowler Waqar Younis has been added to the 15-man squad.
Ahmed took 1-164 in the first drawn Test at Lahore to add to his disappointing run of form over 13 Tests in which he has taken 27 wickets. His place is likely to be taken by teenage leg-spinner Danish Kaneria who is yet to make his international debut.
Waqar, with 308 wickets in 67 Tests, was left out of the initial squad of 14
for the first Test as was off-spinner Arshad Khan who is also back. All-rounder Azhar Mahmood, 12th man in the Lahore Test, twisted his ankle during practice on
Friday and is out for six weeks.
