Karachi, Aug 7: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday said it was
monitoring developments on cricket affairs across the border but
emphasised that it would definitely send its team to Canada.
Yawar Saeed, director of the PCB, said he has heard news that India
were contemplating to withdraw their team from the five-game series.
"But we don't go by news reports. As far as we are concerned, the
series still stands on unless our counterparts convey to us officially
that it is off.
"We have been told by the BCCI is that the decision on the Canadian
series and India's tour of Pakistan would be made on Aug 19 in its
executive council meeting. So we have to wait until then, Saeed, who
arrived in Karachi on Monday on his first-ever tour as PCB official,
said.
The former Somerset player added that even if India decided against
the series in Canada, Pakistan would play any opposition because it
was bound by a five-year contract with International Management Group
(IMG).
"Last year also India didn't come, but we played against the West
Indies. This time also if India will not be the opponent, the
organizers will arrange for the third team. We have a commitment in
Canada and we will fulfil it," Saeed said.
