Day four: First Test, Queen's Park Oval, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad
Imagine the best celebration you have ever had!
Imagine the jubilation of an outstanding achievement!
Imagine the excitement of being in a team as close as a family!
Imagine playing Test cricket for Australia, the number one Test-playing
nation in the world!
And imagine the unbridled joy of beating the mighty West Indies, in a
Test Match, in three-and-a-half days.
If you can imagine all those feelings, then that is exactly what it was
like in our changeroom at Trinidad today. Absolutely sensational,
absolutely electric!
For a Test cricketer there is nothing like the feeling of winning a Test
match. Personal glory is great, there is no denying that, but winning a
Test match, well that really is the ultimate prize from playing Test
cricket. Arm in arm with your team-mates, singing 'Underneath the
Southern Cross ...', is the closest thing you can get to absolute
team-sport jubilation.
Tomorrow I will give you a full description, with lots of photos, of
today's victory and the celebration and jubilation that followed. Click
onto the Net tomorrow for a full run-down.
For now it is off to make the most of a job well done...
From Trinidad, absolutely pumped, JL!
