Karachi, May 3: Former captain and member of the advisory panel of the
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ramiz Raja returned to the West Indies on
Wednesday.
Raja had arrived yesterday in Lahore and it is believed to have taken a briefing
from Lt-Gen Tauqir Zia over mystery surrounding the publication of the judicial
commission report on match-fixing.
Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum has already said he has recommended life bans
on certain players while the general said on Tuesday that the PCB would get the
report from President Rafiq Tarar on Friday.
"Naturally, the players are confused and perplexed," said the sources who couldn't confirm if Raja had a one-to-one meeting with the chairman. Raja departed from Karachi to Guyana where he will be commentating on television.
No official of the PCB was available to confirm whether Raja met the general in
Karachi before returning.
Yawar Saeed, director of the PCB is also leaving for Guyana on Saturday and will
stay there during the course of the first Test which starts Friday.
Yawar's assignment ended in London on Wednesday. But he will stay there for
another couple of days to hold discussions with the England Cricket Board officials
regarding the itinery of England's tour to Pakistan in October.
In an another development, Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum met President
Tarar in Islamabad on Wednesday morning. During the deliberations, the subject
of match-fixing report also came up.
