Guyana have made sweeping changes to their back-room set-up after a dismal start to their first-class season, replacing the coach, selection panel and making wholesale changes to their squad ahead of their sixth-round match against Jamaica this weekend.
The board fired Albert Smith and replaced him as coach with Ravindranauth Seeram, previously one of the selectors. Seeram, 47, played 41 first-class matches for Guyana between 1983 to 1992, scoring almost 2,000 runs at 35.03.
The revamped selection panel now includes former national player Hubern Evans, Sheik Mohammed and Claude Raphael as chairman. Raphael is the only selector retained from the previous panel on which he served alongside Seeram and Smith.
The 16-man squad for the Jamaica game includes former Under-19 players Gajanand Singh and Zaheer Mohammed for the first time this season.
