Regional competition for Kenya

Cricket Kenya has announced that it will be holding a provincial one-day tournament in November

Cricket Kenya has announced that it will be holding a provincial one-day tournament in November.
The tournament bridges the gap between clubs and the national side and it will give the national selectors a chance the see the best players competing against each other. Most national players will participate as well at the pick of the up-and-coming cricketers.
The exact format has yet to be decided but it is expected that there will be up to six sides playing in a round-robin league. All matches will take place on Saturdays in Nairobi and the teams will wear coloured kit which will be provided by Cricket Kenya.
It is believed that up to three sides will come from Nairobi - by far the biggest province - while Coast will field one or two. It is hoped that Rift and Central will also enter one team each.
This will be the first provincial competition since the old Kenyan Cricket Association's attempts to stage such an event failed due to a combination of poor administration and the refusal of most leading clubs to participate.
