Karachi, March 12: Pakistan captain Saeed Anwar will undergo MRI tests
for his sprained neck on Monday. The left-hander said Sunday evening
that after he receives reports, he will decide whether to go to
Sharjah or skip the triangular series.
"I will convey the selectors about my fitness and availability on
Monday afternoon," he said. The Pakistan cricket selectors will name a
15-man squad for the Sharjah tournament on Tuesday. Injuries to key
players have, however, forced the selectors to postpone the
announcement of 16-man team for the triangular series in the West
Indies.
The team for the Caribbean will now be announced from Sharjah.
While Saeed and Wasim Akram are doubtful starters from the desert
tournament, Azhar Mahmood and Saqlain Mushtaq have been completely
ruled out.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) received reports of Azhar's medical
check-ups from England and were pleased to know that they were all
clear. But the selectors have decided to allow Azhar ample time to
gain full fitness.
Tests of Saqlain Mushtaq were to begin later this week.
