Karachi, April 24: Opener Saeed Anwar will leave for
Guyana, West Indies, on Thursday instead of
Tuesday. The left-hander will thus miss the four-dayer
starting there from April 27 and will directly appear
in the first Test beginning from May 5.
The departure of the 31-year-old batsman was delayed
because of non-availability of flight. "Naturally I
wanted to be there for the four-dayer. Anyway, I will
reach there on Friday and will try to make up for the
lost time in nets," Saeed said on Monday from Lahore.
He, however, said he was still recovering from
post-surgical pain but added that he was hoping that he
would regain top fitness by the time the first Test
starts.
"If I felt that I was not match fit (for the first
Test), I will skip the Guyana match and would test by
match fitness in the four-dayer at Barbados which will
be followed up by back-to-back Tests," Saeed added.
He said he has been undergoing exercises to strengthen
his knee and has also started sprints. He said the
specialist had told him that he would be fully fit in
five weeks "and now only seven days are left."
Saeed underwent orthoscopy on his right knee late last
month. He had missed the third Test against Sri Lanka,
the triangular series in Sharjah and the West Indies
