Sri Lanka 'A' in line for honours

Sri Lanka 'A' led by former national cricketer Duleep Samaraweera
have virtually assured themselves of pocketing the one-day triangular
conducted by the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL).
With only the second round of matches in the league completed, Sri
Lanka 'A' have an unblemished record of four wins out of four to top
the standings with eight points.
They are placed in an unenviable position as the other two teams in
the competition - Sri Lanka 'B' and Leicestershire, the English
county champions have a tough task ahead of them to bridge the gap.
Sri Lanka 'B' led by Naveed Nawaz have two points from three matches
and Leicestershire are without any points having lost all three
matches played so far.
Sri Lanka 'A' need to win only one of their remaining two matches of
the third round, to clinch the title.
Sri Lanka 'B's chances hinger on winning their last three matches -
two against Leicestershire and one against Sri Lanka 'A' for them to
have any outside chance. If they can do that, Sri Lanka 'B' will tie
on points with Sri Lanka 'A' and the winner will be decided by the
second option - the playing record between the two teams in the
competition.
Leicestershire have no chance of winning the tournament, even if they
win their remaining three matches.
The champions are decided by the team topping the final league
standings. The standings after matches completed till March 23:
P W L NRR Pts
Sri Lanka 'A' 4 4 0 +0.40 8
Sri Lanka 'B' 3 1 2 +0.73 2
Leicestershire 3 0 3 -1.36 0
