Pakistan all-rounder Wasim Akram has hinted he may retire after the Test match against England at Old Trafford next summer claiming the match-fixing allegations against him have caused distress.
Wasim, who will become the seventh Pakistan player and the 23rd of all time to play 100 Tests at the Iqbal stadium on Wednesday, is one of five players nominated for fines by Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyam for failing to co-operate with his inquiry.
He said: "The thing that has caused me most pain through my career is these allegations, I gave 100% and when they things came my way I thought about leaving the game.
"People should learn that wins and losses are not always in the hands of players and once I wore the Pakistan green cap I gave nothing less than 100% and that should be accepted.
"Playing for Pakistan has always been a priority for me and nothing is more important than this, but I'll keep on reviewing my career every six months and providing the adrenalin is still pumping I will carry on.
"I want to carry on, but I don't want to linger on in case my performance level drops - to give my best is what matters and I've always looked to leave at the top level."
Pakistan arrive in England to play a two Test series next season. The matches will be played at Lord's and Old Trafford, where Wasim stayed for ten years as Lancashire's overseas player.
