The Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) is not supporting incumbent Pat
Rousseau in his quest to be returned as president of the West Indies
Cricket Board. The BCA is backing the nomination of president of the
Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board of Control Alloy Lequay for the May
12 election to be held at the Guyana Pegasus Hotel, Georgetown,
Guyana. Rousseau's nomination was backed by the Leeward Islands
Cricket Board while the Guyana Cricket Board is supporting
Lequay. Meanwhile, former West Indies fast bowler and manager Rev. Wes
Hall was nominated by the BCA for the post of vice-president which was
supported by the Trinidad board. His opponents will be incumbent
Clarvis Joseph and president of the Guyana Cricket Board, Chetram
Singh. Nominations for the posts closed on Wednesday. The region will
be eagerly looking forward to the elections which come at one of the
most turbulent periods in West Indian cricket as the fortunes of the
once giants of the game have been reversed. With the fortunes of the
West Indies slipping, cricket fans throughout the region have been
voicing their concern about what has caused the demise of the game in
a region that at one stage produced talent as if it was coming off a
production line.
