West Indies v South Africa, 2014-15

Wisden's review of the third Twenty20 International, West Indies v South Africa, 2014-15

15-Apr-2015
At Durban, January 14, 2015 (floodlit). South Africa won by 69 runs. Toss: West Indies.
Gayle, who had smashed 167 from the 72 balls he faced in the first two matches, pulled out with a back injury, and South Africa took their chance. Van Wyk, left out of the World Cup squad, clattered an undefeated 114 off 70 deliveries: "There's no such thing as a dead rubber when you wear this shirt," he said. Reeza Hendricks helped van Wyk put on 111 for the first wicket before they were separated in the 13th over. Facing a big target, and Gayle-less, the West Indians looked as uninterested with the bat - Simmons apart - as their bowlers had during an innings in which they all went for more than a run a ball. Carlos Brathwaite, in his first international match for more than three years, leaked 42 in three overs.
Man of the Match: M. N. van Wyk.
