Nary Thapa is the Nepal captain. She also leads the country's domestic champions Nepalganj. Not satisfied with that much responsibilty, Thapa also finds time to play and win badminton games at the national level. She led Nepal in their first-ever international tournament in the Asian Cricket Council women's tournament at Johor in Malaysia where they lost to Bangladesh in the final. The Nepal government awarded NPR 10,000 (US$ 153) to each of the 14 players and the coach for their achievement.

Thapa had a successful tournament as a bowler and won the Bowler-of-the-tournament award for topping the wickets table with 12 dismissals at 2.75.
