36.5 to D Brevis, GONE! The extra bounce does him in! Muzarabani bangs this in short outside off and Brevis attempts a pull shot, but it flies off his top-edge and loops towards mid-off where Chivanga runs in to take an excellent diving catch. The end of Brevis' impressive knock on debut, and a superb 95-run partnership with Pretorius.. 150/5 84.6 to Codi Yusuf, GONE! Muzarabani has his man finally! It's short, into the batter and Yusuf rocks back and opens the face of his bat to send this over slip, but Sean Williams at third man runs in and is able to take the catch. The end of a very useful 27 from the debutant and a 59-run partership for the tenth wicket.. 389/9

41.4 to K Verreynne, WHAT A CATCH! Masakadza tempts Verreynne into chasing a ball outside off and he finds the edge. The ball flies wide of the slip fielder but Ervine gets to the ball before it dies and sends Verreynne back with a superb catch!. 181/6
16 | 2 | 83 | 4 | 5.18 | 58 | 8 | 1 | 0 | 2 | |
5.4 to T de Zorzi, taken at third slip!! De Zorzi's struggle ends. The ball dies on its way to the fielder, who grabs it last moment, and this time de Zorzi isn't lucky enough to survive. Again, there's good bounce for Chivanga. He bowled this on a length, and in the channel just outside off. De Zorzi went jabbing at it from just outside off stump, but got an outside edge as the ball shaped back in. Early wicket for Zimbabwe. 3/1 12.6 to MP Breetzke, gone!! Another catch at third slip! Extra bounce deceives a batter yet again, and finally results in a wicket. In fact, Breetzke walks back looking at his fingers. On a short of a length, and just about on off stump or thereabouts. The ball jumps off the pitch, and catches Breetzke by surprise as he looks to push at it with hard hands. It goes off from close to the shoulder of the bat, and right into the fielder's lap. 21/2 14.2 to DG Bedingham, another one! South Africa keep nicking outside off. This one is taken by first slip, and with a reverse cup. Considerable bounce from a length around fifth stump, as Bedingham goes pushing at it like Breetzke had. The ball flies off the surface, and takes the outside edge, with Bedingham seemingly going at it tentatively. Good catch by Ervine, you'd think, given how little time he had to react as the ball flew towards him. 23/3 64.2 to LG Pretorius, gone!! Pretorius finally runs out of luck. The catch is taken cleanly, and you don't really need a nod from the umpire to help Zimbabwe. Another short delivery - Chivanga seemed to bang it harder than ever before today - as it arrived just outside off. That extra effort from Chivanga may have resulted in some steep bounce, and as Pretorius went for the pull, the ball popped up for the man stationed at mid-on. He didn't have to move one bit, and Chivanga got his fourth, something which should have come hours back. 289/7

73.2 to KA Maharaj, taken by Bennett with two men around him looking to catch the ball as well!! Yet again, Maharaj chose to skip down the pitch and attack a spinner with a lofted shot. The ball was tossed up, and full outside off. I think Maharaj was beaten by the slowness of the ball, as he ended up ballooning it. Bennett, placed at extra cover, moved to his right to grab the ball, and tumble after taking the catch. Useful runs from Maharaj, though. 330/8

0.5 to T Kaitano, chipped first ball!! Yusuf strikes in his first over on Test debut. The man at short leg was pushed back for Kaitano, and the ball went bang where de Zorzi was placed. On the shorter side of a length on middle, and Kaitano, neither fully forward nor fully back, ended up clipping it aerially. Perhaps the bounce played a role there as well. The ball died towards de Zorzi, and he took a low catch. 5/1 4.1 to NR Welch, gone!! Edged behind to the keeper. Good pace and bounce from Yusuf, who bowls this short of a length, and pretty wide of off. Welch goes slashing at it far away from his body - and without any foot movement - and the ball takes the top edge to Verreynne. Another early wicket for South Africa and Yusuf, as Zimbabwe slide. 23/2 54.6 to WP Masakadza, wow, he's caught behind, but I never heard a sound there. But I'm not the umpire!! On a good length, and in the corridor outside off - around sixth stump - as Masakadza looked to defend, but got a thin outside edge. The South Africans went up right away, and Yusuf didn't even bother to look behind for confirmation from the umpire. 217/7

42.5 to W Madhevere, loud and confident appeal for lbw, and given! On a full length from Mulder, who swung the ball in and landed it on middle and off. Madhevere looked to flick it away, but nearly seemed to be falling over. He ended up missing, though, and the ball thudded into his front pad. This would have gone on to hit the stumps comfortably, you'd think. Mulder breaks an attacking stand, and Zimbabwe have to do it all over again. 167/4 46.3 to PS Masvaure, Is Masvaure out? Length ball on off, hint of seam away, Masvaure pokes at it, gets an outside edge, and Verreynne takes it low with a dive to his left. The umpires are taking it upstairs to ensure that the wicketkeeper hasn't grassed this one. This is a tough one for the third umpire, because the TV camera angles aren't doing him too many favours. Eventually he rules in favour of South Africa! Masvaure has to go, Zimbabwe have lost half their side.. 185/5 48.6 to TE Tsiga, This time the edge from Tsiga finds the fielder. Full ball from Mulder on middle and off, Tsiga looks to flick it away towards midwicket, but only manages a leading edge that gives Codi Yusuf a straightforward catch at backward point.. 201/6 66.6 to B Muzarabani, bowled him! The off stump is flattened! Mulder bowled this quick and on a good length on off. The ball was angled in, and it straightened after pitching. Muzarabani's front leg was around middle and leg, as he looked to poke at this from middle stump. But he was beaten on the outside edge, as the ball thudded into the stump. Mulder has his fourth. 250/9

33.4 to CR Ervine, stumped!! Ervine pays for skipping down the pitch and missing the ball. Maharaj bowled this on a length, and slightly wide of off. He slowed it down too, and got some turn back in, as Ervine looked to block it after advancing down. But he was beaten, and Verreynne had plenty of time to whip the bails off to hand Maharaj his 200th wicket. 119/3 65.2 to SC Williams, got him!! Maharaj has another left-hander stumped today. Williams' brilliant knock ends at 137, more than half of Zimbabwe's total so far. He was drawn out of the crease by Maharaj, who tossed the ball up, and got it to dip on a fullish length around sixth stump. The ball turned in very slightly, and Williams missed as he looked to push forward. His back foot was in the air as Verreynne whipped the bails off, and the keeper immediately knew he had his man. 249/8 67.4 to TL Chivanga, And, that will be that! An almighty swipe from Chivanga, he gets a top edge, and Maphaka tracks back at mid-on to take a straightforward catch. Maharaj raises a hand in apology to Mulder for denying him the chance of a five-fer, but the skipper won't be complaining about finishing this Zimbabwe innings off.. 251/10 |

82.5 to KT Maphaka, it's finally over!! Nobody will test our patience anymore, and nobody will ask why South Africa are batting. Muzarabani, at last, switches to a full-length ball, and gets a wicket immediately. This ball is angling across, and arriving around middle. Maphaka has a big heave at it across the line, but is beaten, as the ball rams into the middle and off stumps. South Africa lead by 536, so Zimbabwe need 537 to win. 369/10

1.2 to MP Breetzke, Goneski! Zimbabwe have the early wicket they wanted! What a lovely delivery from Chivanga. It pitches on a good length and moves away off the seam, Breetzke looks to punch off the backfoot, but gets a thick outside edge that Madhever gobbles up at gully.. 1/1 18.1 to T de Zorzi, gone!! Edged to second slip! Chivanga keeps chipping away to check South Africa. He bowls this on an enticing and a fullish length around fifth stump. The ball doesn't really move off the pitch, and de Zorzi hangs his bat out to try and have a push at the ball. But it takes the outside edge, and dies towards Williams. It went so low that I almost thought Williams dropped it. 64/2

32.1 to DG Bedingham, Would you believe it? He's pulled a long hop straight to midwicket! That's a poor ball from Masakadza, short and asking to be pulled over midwicket, Bedingham tries to do just that, hits it pretty well too, but doesn't get the elevation. So it provides Williams the chance to pouch it at midwicket, which he does fairly comfortably.. 136/3 59.3 to K Verreynne, Good catch from Ervine at slip. That's a superb ball form Masakadza. Fairly quick, pitches on a length around off stump, turns away sharply and bounces too, to catch the outside edge that flies fairly quickly to Ervine, who completes the catch to his left.. 259/7 77.4 to C Bosch, bowled him!! Masakadza and Zimbabwe have at least one reason to smile. He tosses this up, and bowls this full and outside leg. Seemingly, it lands on a foot hole there, and turns away. Bosch is looking to slog sweep, but is beaten. The ball thuds into the leg stump, and Zimbabwe's frustration ends - at least for now. 351/8 79.1 to KA Maharaj, got him!! This time Maharaj's middle stump is uprooted. Like Maharaj himself, Masakadza, left-arm spinner, bowls from over the wicket and dangles this by tossing it up. The ball dips on a length on the leg stump, and while Maharaj skips down to have a heave across the line, turns away to clatter into the middle stump. Four for Masakadza. 352/9
10 | 1 | 35 | 1 | 3.50 | 41 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
58.6 to PWA Mulder, Caught at the deep-midwicket boundary!! For once I got the impression that Mulder was fully confident of the ball sailing away for six. It was a good catch by Kaitano, who had to move to his left, and also tip-toe on the edge of the boundary. Mulder skipped down the pitch at this short-of-a-length ball which dipped around, and went heaving across the line. He even timed that well despite the shortness of the ball, but the bigger boundary may have played a role there. 259/6

33.5 to LG Pretorius, Bowled 'im! Big turn on offer from the footmarks outside off stump. It pitches in that bit of rough that is short of a length outside off stump, Pretorius looks to go back and cut it, but he doesn't account for how far that has turned back in. It goes through the gap between his body and bat and pings the top of middle stump.. 141/4 37.1 to D Brevis, Masekesa strikes timber again! Full ball on leg stump, Brevis sees the flight and his eyes light up, so he looks to slog it over the long-on boundary. The turn beats him and the ball clatters into the middle of middle. This is shaping into a really nice session for Zimbabwe.. 155/5 |

28.1 to PS Masvaure, taken at second slip!! Yusuf strikes first ball today as well, like Bosch had. But, but... the first replay nearly made me feel that it was a no-ball. His heel just about lands on the line, though, so he's safe. Yusuf angles this across from over the wicket, and bowls on a length around middle and off. The ball shapes away, and Masvaure has a push at it. But he ends up getting an outside edge, and the ball dies on to Mulder. 68/4 30.3 to W Madhevere, a faint, and an almost inaudible tickle, to the keeper! But as you'd expect, Yusuf and Verreynne knew it right away. Yusuf bowled this on the fuller side of a length, while angling the ball in. It pitched just outside off or thereabouts, and just about shaped to move away. Madhevere went pushing at it, and ended up getting an outside edge. 72/5 32.2 to TE Tsiga, grabbed at fourth slip!! All the deliveries are catching the edge, and all edges are going to hand. Short in length from Yusuf, who bowls this on that testing line of around seventh stump. Sharp bounce for Yusuf, and Tsiga ends up jabbing at it with hard hands. Bosch takes to his right. 82/6

59.4 to WP Masakadza, Taken at slip! Full tossed up tempter from Maharaj again, Masakadza goes for the big off drive again, manages only to edge it through to Mulder, who completes the catch to his right. South Africa are one wicket away.. 181/9

18.2 to T Kaitano, South Africa have a wicket to end the day! Good ball from Bosch, angles in, seams away a touch, and Kaitano prods outside off stump, and edges it to Pretorius at second slip.. 32/1 18.3 to NR Welch, caught him!! Bosch on a hat-trick!! He wishes Welch and Zimbabwe good morning with a sharp short delivery cramping the batter for room. The man at short leg comes into play first ball on the fourth day. Steep bounce for Bosch, who banged the ball hard on a middle-and-off line, and left Welch fending at it rather uncomfortably to de Zorzi. 32/2 24.2 to SC Williams, taken by Verreynne!! Zimbabwe's biggest hope of dragging this game long departs. Verreynne just had to move a step back, before the landed into his gloves after being skyed off the top edge. Short in length from Bosch, whose over-the-wicket line finally manages to get Williams. The latter went for the swipe, but the ball didn't seem to get up a lot. Hence it ballooned up off the top edge, and resulted in his wicket. 64/3 52.5 to CR Ervine, great catch by de Zorzi at short leg!! He hardly had time to react, and he does that in no time while stretching himself to his left to grab the ball one-handed. South Africa's frustration ends with that agile take. Bosch bowled this on a short of a length outside leg, and the ball ended just outside leg. Ervine shifted his weight back to try and clip, and almost beat the close-in fielder. He falls one short of fifty. 165/7 56.1 to V Masekesa, bowled him!! Bosch has a five-for!! He bowls this on a short of a length on sixth stump, and Masekesa goes slashing at it away from his body. There's no foot movement there, and with the ball just seaming in slightly - and also keeping low - he ends up getting a bottom edge on to off stump. South Africa are inching closer to the win. 173/8

66.2 to TL Chivanga, That will be that! Brevis has his first Test wicket! It's a bit of a comical dismissal. Chivanga advances down the track well before Brevis delivers the ball. The bowler sees that and drops it short and down legside. Verreynne moves to the legside and completes a simple stumping, to complete a 328-run win for the Proteas.. 208/10 |
