An unbeaten 161 and four wickets from Chamara Kapugedera led Victoria Sporting Club to a 66-run win against Prime Bank Cricket Club in Fatullah. Victoria were in a spot of bother at 57 for 3 in the 14th over before Kapugedara at No. 4 came out to record his highest List A score.
It was the partnership between Kapugedara and Nadif Chowdhury of 173 runs in 28.2 overs that revived the innings and then charged them past 200. Chowdhury fell for 70, that featured four fours and three sixes, when the score was 230. Kapugedara and Dhiman Ghosh then hammered 71 runs in eight overs to amass 301 for 4. Kapugedara finished on 161 off 136, with 13 fours and seven sixes.
A few of the Prime Bank batsmen got starts but none could capitalise on them for a three-digit score, and Prime Bank were all out for 235 depute playing all the overs. Their top five batsmen scored 94 runs together, led by 43 from Soumya Sarkar before he was run out. No. 6 Taibur Rahman was the top-scorer with his 99-ball 77 and his was the last wicket to fall before he started running out of partners. Kapugedara finished with 4 for 41 from his 10 overs and Suhrawadi Shuvo registered 3 for 48.
Four wickets from Asif Hasan helped Brothers Union defend a low score of 153 by only eight runs against Kalabagan Cricket Academy in Savar. Comfortable at 99 for 2 in the 28th over, Kalabagan lost their last eight wickets for 46 runs to be bowled out in the 48th over.
Brothers Union chose to bat and were troubled by Jeevan Mendis and Nabil Samad, who took two wickets each. They never got any solid partnerships going, the highest being 32 runs for the fifth wicket. Milinda Siriwardana top-scored with a 59-ball 57 but the six batsmen after him scored in single digits and they were all out for 153.
Kalabagan were being led by Mahmudul Hasan (55) and Sabbir Rahman (36). But once the two fell, the remaining four wickets fell for 32 runs and the innings, that featured three ducks, was wrapped up for 145.
Abahani Limited cruised to a five-wicket win against Mohammedan Sporting Club in Mirpur with a collective bowling effort and a fifty from Litton Das. After Mohammedan were restricted to 168 for 9, Abahani achieved the target in the 38th over and collected two points. The chase was led by Das' 55 and Raqibul Hasan's 41 even though they lost five wickets, two of those to Alauddin Babu.
Mohammedan's batsmen were rattled by Al-Amin's (2 for 27) offspin and Subashis Roy's (3 for 18) medium-pace. The two ran through the top and middle order, as only one of the top five reached double figures - Naaem Islam scoring a patient 45 off 109. Mohammedan were reeling at 46 for 6 in the 23rd over before they were rescued by a fifty from Mashrafe Mortaza (61), who struck seven fours and three sixes. They crossed 150 eventually but it didn't prove to be enough.
