Naved hundred sinks Stallions

A round-up of the Silver Cup matches on January 24, 2015

Group II

A 188-run partnership between Naved-ul-Hasan and Adnan Raees sent Water and Power Development Authority on their way to a 138-run win against Sialkot Stallions at the Jinnah Stadium. WAPDA, after being inserted, rode on the pair's fourth-wicket stand to compile 264. Naved stroked six fours and three sixes during his 100, while Raees' 81 featured six fours and one six. For Stallions, Hasan Ali and Bilal Asif claimed four wickets apiece. Stallions never really got going in their chase, as only three batsmen managed double-digit scores. They were steady at 67 for 1, but lost their last nine wickets for just 59 runs to fold for 126. Waqas Maqsood was the pick of WAPDA's bowlers, collecting 3 for 33.
An unbeaten 58 from Nasir Khan helped Abbottabad Falcons gun down 257 against Habib Bank Limited with four wickets and two balls to spare. Falcons lost Rameez Ahmed early in the chase, but their top and middle order all chipped in with handy knocks. Khalilullah (42) and Sohail Akhtar (45) made forties, before Nasir's 41-ball half-century took the team home. Earlier, Habib Bank, after being inserted, made 256 for 7 from their 50 overs. Their innings was powered by a 55-ball 59 from Hasan Raza, and his 61-run association for the seventh wicket with Humayun Farhat.

Group III

Naseer Akram and Mohammad Zubair snared three scalps apiece to bundle Pakistan Television out for 84 and set Faisalabad Wolves on course for a comfortable seven-wicket victory at the Iqbal Stadium in a game that was reduced to 20 overs per side. PTV, having been inserted, failed to build any momentum. Usman Ashraf was the team's highest run-getter with 26, but only two other players managed to reach double digits, with only five boundaries seen throughout the innings. Wolves made light work of the chase, as Hasan Mahmood's 31-ball 37 guided the team home in 14.4 overs.
Abdul Rehman Muzammil and Shahzad Ali both stroked crucial fifties, helping Multan Tigers hunt down 208 against Sui Southern Gas Corporation. Tigers were precariously placed at 54 for 3 before a 91-run partnership for the fifth wicket put them back on track. Muzammil's 50 featured six fours, while Shahzad hit five fours during his 53. Both batsmen couldn't see the chase through, but Kashif Naved's 39-ball 43 sealed the chase with nine deliveries to spare. Earlier, tight spells from Sadaif Mehdi (3 for 38), Majid Ali (2 for 36) and Kashif (2 for 17) restricted SSGC to 207. From a healthy 133 for 4, the team lost their last six wickets for just 74 runs, as no batsman could muscle a much-needed half-century.
