arm ball to end the match. The debutant does it. This is a length ball on off, Malinga plays for the turn, the ball comes in to beat the inside edge and hits the stumps
Sri Lanka vs Pakistan, 3rd ODI at Colombo, Jul 19 2015 - Ball by Ball Commentary
11pm So that's all we have for you. Thanks for joining us
"Pretty disappointed," says Angelo Mathews. "They outplayed us in all three departments. The way the wicket played, the toss was crucial. It started turning in the second innings, but they outplayed us. In the field we showed a little bit of improvement, but we need to improve a lot in all three departments. We can't panic. Just a must-win match, and we can't chop and change too much. Just have faith in the boys."
"Wonderful performance," says Azhar Ali. "Great team effort. We had the plan to bat Sarfraz higher yetserday itself. Because of the combination of the team. He adapted very well. The plan came off really well. The takeaway from Pallekelle was the fight we showed with both bat and ball. If you come back from theese situations, it shows you have it in you. We will try and cope with the Hafeez situation, we have two allrounder, and all boys chipped in."
"Great team effort," says Sarfraz Ahmed, the Man of the Match. "I am very happy with my batting and keeping. Yesterday Azhar came up and told me he wanted me to bat higher. And I said okay. My natural game is to take it one ball at a time, and that's what I am doing ."
10.40pm A comprehensive win for Pakistan. They have been better in every department today, and are now one win short of qualifying for the Champions Trophy
From the moment Shehzad and Azhar got off to a good start, scoring 40s, Pakistan were ahead, and they just kept widening that gap over the rest of the day. Hafeez and Sarfraz - promoted to 4 - then scored fifties, and Malik and Rizwan provided the finishing fillip. Sri Lanka were set a target bigger than any that has been chased successfully in Sri Lanka, and they needed Perera and Dilshan to get off to a flying start. Anwar Ali, however, dismissed then in his first spell with slower offcutters, whereupon the spinners established a choke hold on Sri Lanka, which Pakistan never released. Along the way there was an unfortunate mini riot in the stands, with a rock finding its way to the ground, causing an interruption in play. The good news is, nobody got hurt, we came back to play, and there were still a few spectators left who danced to the end
Wasim comes back
full on the free hit, Pradeep makes room and lofts this over mid-off
bowls a no-ball. Short of a length, angling in, defended
Round the wicket
Malinga is backing away again, gets a full toss that he hits past cover
without a dropped catch, how would this be a Pakistan match? Malinga just backs away and slogs, gets the top edge on the pull, Azhar Ali runs back from mid-off, gets under it, but the ball pops out. Also Irfan has overstepped, a fact the umpire has not picked
full and straight, defended to mid-off
bouncer, middle and leg, Maling stays out of its line
Pradeep is backing away, opens the face to a full toss, gets a single to third man
sharp legbreak, on off, turning away, beats the edge. No five-for for Shah, but superb figures: 10-1-29-4
tossed up on off, defended off the front foot
Nuwan Pradeep out to join Malinga. Can Shah complete a five-for? He has two balls to take this final wicket
what a piece of brilliance from Anwar Ali to give Shah his fourth and bring this game closer to its end. They have gone to the third umpire but the soft signal is out. Pathirana is down the wicket to hit this flat and low towards deep midwicket, Anwar Ali charges in from his post at the boundary, and he has run in quite a bit, and then dives forward to take this centimetres from the ground. And after watching a few replays, the third umpire has decided there is no evidence to overutrn the soft signal of out. And it looks like a clean catch too
slow teasing legbreak, draws an edge, but it goes down and wide of gully for a single
Lasith Malinga is the new man in. A slip in place. And a gully
short, flat, quick, pulled to deep midwicket
and he gets one more wicket. Teases Perera with a slow flighted delivery. Perera's favourite zone is that wide long=on, and he finally goes for that shot. But he is not close to the pitch of the ball, and manages just a massive top edge, which is caught at the boundary
Last over for Shah
full toss, hits the bat hard, and is defended back to him
Ali: "I don't think Sri Lankans have to say sorry . A Stupid act by a bunch of people cannot represent a whole nation . Bieng a Pakistani I understand how it is like. "
slower ball, cuts into the ribs, defended from the crease
that's nearly plumb. Yorker followed by a bouncer, which hits him in front but seems to be headed down leg. Not given. No review taken
bouncer, on top of off, he sways out of its line and stays down
slower ball, catches him on the crease, but the bat comes down in time to defend this length ball
full, just outside off, pushed to mid-off
