gone, and that's the match for South Africa although we knew the outcome of this game a long while along. Taylor swings the ball high to mid-on where Steyn back-peddles for the catch...a career-best for Morne Morkel, a fine effort as he continues his recovery from injury
South Africa vs West Indies, 2nd ODI at Cape Town, Jan 25 2008 - Ball by Ball Commentary
And that ends a fairly ordinary game of cricket. South Africa played well and deserved their 86-run win, but they were hardly tested once the early new-ball burst was over. West Indies just showed nothing in their reply, it was a depressing advert for sport, really, which is meant to about teams going all-out to win. South Africa bowled well, for sure, but they were under no pressure. Morkel's performance was eye-catching as he got bounce and carry and he has a big future ahead of him.
So South Africa lead the series 2-0 with three to play and the next match is in Port Elizabeth on Sunday. It's a day game, so please do join us for that. For now, from Andrew McGlashan and Martin Williamson, it's goodnight.
chopped down very near off stump
Morkel back for one over
oh dear, in every sense of the word...Taylor slams the ball to mid off and sprints down for single, Edwards doesn't move but Kallis's throw is not being backed up and Edwards has time to canter through to the other end
misses leg stump by a coat of varnish as Taylor tries to flick through the leg side
defended back to the bowler
gone! Chanderpaul's plainly odd - and poor - innings comes to end with a tame flick to midwicket. He never seemed to know what he was doing, and neither did anyone else
pokes outside off stump and is beaten
defended on off stump
sliced away on the off side, de Villiers intercepts and a direct hit would have had Edwards short
someone Edwards keeps getting bat on the straight one as he hacks to mid-on
banged in and paddled through square leg
slower ball clubbed to mid-off
sliced away into the deep, drops short of Morkel at deep cover
Edwards backs away again, Steyn follows him and pretends to play a cricket shot but not one I've ever seen before
helped to backward point...one more over ticked off, four remaining
pushed to cover
clubbed out to deep square
more dancing towards leg stump from Edwards, he misses another wild mow
backs away and drives a full ball down to long-off, they pinch a second after some sloppy fielding...Langeveldt nearly took a blow in the mouth
driven confidently through extra cover, but it exposes Edwards again
Langeveldt is back, can he wrap up the innings?
