PESHAWAR, Oct 19: Pakistan batsman Ijaz Ahmad nearly missed the second Test here after he had refused to bat at one-down position.
According to informed sources, Ijaz had told the team management that he would bat down the order.
"Ijaz argued that if he is made to bat low down the order in one-day internationals, why was he being forced to play at the pivotal No 3 position," sources said.
However, the team management convinced Ijaz and also made him understand the team requirement and his performance in Tests at No 3 spot.
Ijaz, dropped from the first Test, staged a splendid come back when he made a career-best 155 with a flurry of beautiful shots.
