The Eagles fast bowler Deon Kruis has been handed a two-match suspension and fined R1000 after breaking the South Africa board's code of conduct in a match against Western Province Boland last December.
Kruis, 20, will miss the match against Boland on Thursday, and the other game will be suspended until the end of the season. The South African board's disciplinary commissioner, Adv Andre Burger, also instructed Kruis to undergo a life-skills course.
Kruis' team-mate, the fast bowler Roger Telemachus, was fined R1000 and received a one-match suspension after being found guilty of contravening the South African board's code of conduct in the same tie. His match suspension will be held off until the end of the season. Telemachus, 31, will have to pay R500 of his fine upfront - within seven days - but the rest will be suspended pending good behaviour until the end of the year.
The pair received their punishments when they attended a disciplinary hearing in Blomfontein on Wednesday night.
