NEW DELHI, Feb 7: Salim Malik is suffering from a hamstring injury
but was expected to play in the Asian Test Championship game against
India at Calcutta.
"I was very uncomfortable till last evening. But the pain has
decreased in the last 12 hours," Malik told reporters after the
match.
"I pulled my hamstring on Friday evening when I sprinted in pursuit
of a ball. But I am confident that a break of eight days would be
enough to get the injury heel up," Malik added.
Salim Malik bitterly criticized the wicket saying it was not of Test
standard. "How can you play on it? It was the worst wicket I have
come across in my entire career," he remarked.
He was of the view that either the wicket should turn or seam. "But
the bounce should be even. Here the bounce was uneven which created a
nightmare for the batsmen," he said.
