Munir Dar takes LSW to the top

Munir Dar enjoyed a fine weekend as he scored a century for LSW Warriors against CCC in the Saturday League and then claimed six wickets as LSW pipped Templars by two wickets in the Sunday League.

Munir Dar enjoyed a fine weekend as he scored a century for LSW Warriors against CCC in the Saturday League and then claimed six wickets as LSW beat Templars in the Sunday League. Other notable achievements over the weekend include centuries to Nasir Hameed (Police), Ijaz Mir (Pakistan Association Green) and Ahmed Mukhtar (Millennium) whilst Greg Thomas claimed five wickets for Crusaders.
2005-06 HKCA Saturday League
SubCont moved to the top of the 2005-06 HKCA Saturday League table after scoring a two wicket victory over MCC St George's at Mission Road, whilst HKU suffered their second defeat in as many weeks. MCC St George's batted first and posted a competitive 209-9 in their 35 overs with Amjal top scoring with 49, whilst Neeraj Chopra claimed four wickets. In reply, SubCont were made to work hard for their victory as Narinder claimed 4 wickets, but a solid 78 from Ankur Sharma took SubCont to their target for the loss of eight wickets.
HKU slipped to second on the table after suffering a 74 run loss to the Hong Kong Under-19 team. The youngsters racked up an impressive 220-6 in their 35 overs with Irfan Ahmed hitting 63 and Gary Brierly an unbeaten 48. Irfan's brother Nadeem then claimed four wickets as HKU slumped to 146 all out.
Munir Dar hit 113 not out as LSW Warriors thrashed CCC at Po Kong Village Road Number 1 ground to move into third place on the table. Dar's efforts enabled LSW Warriors to post a massive score of 325-6 off their 35 overs with Tabarak Dar contributing 76. CCC were restricted to 177-9 in reply - still 148 runs short of the mark.
Nasir Hameed also hit a century as Police notched a victory over the more fancied Lamma. Police batted first and posted a score of 192-5 with Hameed hitting 107 not out. Lamma could only muster 172-5 in reply with Brad Tarr hitting 49.
Nomads climbed three places up the table as they beat Crusaders by 99 runs at Kowloon Cricket Club. Chris O'Sullivan led the batting with 76 as Nomads posted a total of 189-9 off their 35 overs whilst Greg Thomas claimed 5 wickets for Crusaders. Four run outs and four wickets to Michael Jamieson saw Crusaders skittled for a paltry 90 in reply.
Centaurs claimed the final win of the round as they beat Kai Tak at the Po Kong Village Road No. 2 Ground. Andrew Fitzhardinge top scored with 73 for Kai Tak as their compiled 174-9 off their 35 overs but Centaurs off the runs for the loss of only five wickets.
2005-06 HKCA Sunday League
Little Sai Wan moved to the top of the 2005-06 HKCA Sunday League table after beating Templars by two wickets at Mission Road. Templars were dismissed for 183 in the 46th over with Munir Dar claiming 6-37. LSW were made to work hard for their victory as they lost eight wickets in reply however a steady innings by young Irfan Ahmed ensured they reached their target in the 40th over.
In the only other Sunday League match played, there was a run-feist at Po Kong Village Road as Pakistan Association Green beat Millennium by superior run-rate. An unbeaten century from Ijaz Mir and half-centuries by Narinder and Gohar Ali allowed Pakistan Association Green to post a massive 342-5 from their 50 overs. Undeterred, Millennium set about the total in a positive fashion with Mukhtar Ahmed smashing a century and Ahmed Dar another half-century. But four wickets by Jamshaid khan kept them in check and when stumps were called at the end of the 49th over, Millennium had reached a respectable 289-9, still 53 runs short of their target.
2005-06 HKCA Women's League
The Lamma women's team went one better than their men's team as they scored an eight wicket victory over the HKCC Cavaliers in the latest match of the 2005-06 HKCA Women's League. The Cavaliers could only manage a total of 77-8 in their innings with Kaori Iida claiming four wickets. An undefeated 36 by Bethan Greaves steered Lamma to an easy victory.
