New Zealand: 'Leggie' spins out five
The Christchurch Press
Three wickets in three balls is a hat-trick but what is five wickets
in five balls?
That is a question for seven-year-old Christopher Simcock and his
parents, Kevin and Virginia, to puzzle over after his wicket-taking
exploits for Old Collegians 14s in a recent Canterbury Junior Cricket
Association match.
Christopher had four of his victims bowled and one caught in a
remarkable display of accuracy for one so young in the Junior Average
A competition.
What is more Christopher is bowling leg-spinners, one of the most
difficult deliveries to get to grips with.
Christopher added another two wickets in his second over so
Australian Shane Warne may have a rival for his leg-spinning stardom.
Not surprisingly, Christopher was named his team's player of the day.
Mum says Christopher is cricket-mad and sleeps with his gear the
night before matches, and has plenty of backyard battles with younger
brother Michael.
