Rules relating to the status of World Series Cricket matches
29-Nov-2007
All of the matches played in World Series Cricket competitions in the 1977-78 and 1978-79 seasons were conducted by a group of private companies under the chairmanship of Kerry Packer. These matches were not sanctioned by the International Cricket Conference nor any of the relevant national
cricket authorities.
In 1979 the ICC ruled that matches conducted by World Series Cricket were not to be considered first-class or List A. As a result, no WSC matches are included in statistics relating to Tests, one-day internationals, and first-class fixtures.
