Islamabad, May 24: Apart from penalising the cricketers found guilty, Justice Malik Qayyum has also made other suggestions to curb these practices in future.
These include: Captain and manager of the team should be person of impeccable character; chairman PCB or his impartial nominee should accompany the team on foreign tour to deal with the players complaints and indiscipline as an independent third party; new code of conduct for players should be introduced; players should declare assets at the start of the career and thereafter annually and if necessary PCB to initiate a probe into their assets; players not to be associated with known bookies or people who are convicted of match fixing and similar offences; ban on phone and outside communications during matches; players to be warned about dangers and temptations, a permanent review committee composed of some men of integrity should be formed by PCB to review the performance of team at the conclusion of each tour, any irregularity to be dealt with promptly; PCB to facilitate the review committee with video etc; PCB should consider not sending the team on venues known as den of bookies; remuneration to be based on player-performance instead of seniority; other avenues of income generation should be tapped; to making winning bonus more lucrative.
