Edward RAINSFORD (ZIM) - bowler, 43 for 2 off 10 overs.
On the conditions:
"It is only my second one day international and obviously I was nervous. I
have never played in England before and the conditions such as the cloud
cover and the rain and I was very nervous about playing here."
On bowling in damp conditions:
"I kept bowling in the right areas and let the ball do the work for me."
"We're (RAINSFORD and Tinashe PANYANGARA) almost the same type of bowler, he
swings it away from the right hand and so do I. So I thought I'd also
struggle in the conditions and with the ball swinging around, but I just
tried to back myself."
On the result against the USA:
"You win and lose in cricket. You have to pick yourself up if you lose and
do what you practice."
On the Zimbabwean fielding:
"We do a lot of work on our fielding, it's one part of our cricket we that
like to pride ourselves on."
On their performance:
"After the start we're really happy with what happened. We pulled some
wickets back and hopefully we can get some more tomorrow. We'll have to come
back tomorrow and bowl really tight and try and stop them at 260."
Vikram SOLANKI (ENG) - 62 runs, dismissed lbw, bowled Vusimuzi SIBANDA (ZIM)
On England's position at the close of play:
"I think it was a bit of a difficult day really. It was a stop start day and
we weren't sure whe we were going to start. We'd have liked to have won the
toss, unfortunately we didn't do so and the ball spun around a bit early on.
But it's a competitive wcket and hopefully we can post a competitive score
tomorrow."
On England being over confident:
"I don't think that's the case, there's a fine line between playing
positively and it's something we spoke about to try and play positively.
It's just one of those things, I don't think there was a case of
over-confidence at all."
On Zimbabwe's bowling attack:
"We discussed the fact that they had a point to prove. They're excluded from
test cricket and they're going to go hard in one day cricket because it's
their only opportunity on the international stage. They're a well knit unit,
they've always been good in the field, they cover the ground very well and
they generally try and get the ball in good areas which is what they did
today."
On England's target score:
"We've got batting to come and tomorrow morning will be when we assess what
we'll be chasing as we're not sure what the conditions will be like until
tomorrow morning."
On the first over (which featured seven wides):
"It's difficult and Trez (Marcus TRESCOTHICK - ENG) did very well. It was
one of those overs where you could get wide, wide, wide, wide, jaffa,
wicket. But we spoke about it between balls all the time. He came down and
had a break from it to make sure he was focused on the next ball. I thought
he played the over very well."
On the conditions:
"At the start of our innings we really didn't know what to expect as is
often the case when there's been a lot of rain around, so we'd spoken about
trying to figure it out once we'd got out there. It was a bit dark, but we
had the white balls which help."
"The weather's been good, we've just had a day of rain. The pitches are
often better at this time of year."
On playing a non-test nation:
"What you have to do is stay positive and try and execute your own game
plan, which is what we tried to do today."
On Zimbabwe's bowling:
"It was tough for them in that first over, but after that they seemed to get
their discipline back and they managed to bowl in some good areas."
On his dismissal:
"There were plenty of overs left and that was probably the biggest
disappointment for me because up until then I'd played to my plan."
On losing the toss:
"We'd have liked to have won the toss and this is no disrespect to the
Zimbabwe lads and their attack, but we could have got a bit more out of the
wicket."
Paul COLLINGWOOD (ENG) - 72 not out
On batting in sixth:
"It's a hard position to bat in but I enjoy it and it's very stisfying when
you do a good job well. It gives you the chance to get in now and then when there's a few early wickets that go down early. But I enjoy the job and hopefully I can get a few more scores like that."
On the condition of the pitch:
"I think it's a good pitch to be honest with you. You look at it yesterday
and it's green, but you knock it around early doors and hopefully our big tall men can do some work out there."
