Sussex crowned Frizzell Women's County champions

Frizzell Women's County Championship
Clare Connor has led Sussex to their first Frizzell Women's County Championship title, despite narrowly losing to Surrey today at Pembroke College, Cambridge. In a rain effected final day, many matches were decided by Duckwoth-Lewis to produce the closest finish to the Women's County Championship for nearly a decade.
At the final analysis, Sussex top the table by just half a point.
As County Champions, Sussex will play South Africa tomorrow at Fenner's in the tourist's first warm-up match ahead of the first npower women's Test on 7th August at Shenley Cricket Ground.
Berkshire, runners-up last year, have been relegated.

Lancashire have been promoted to Division One next season after their final match against Staffordshire was abandoned. Lancashire retain their unbeaten record in the competition. Hertfordshire have been relegated from Division Two following their fifth loss in five days today, to Middlesex.
Economical bowling from England and Staffordshire bowler, Lucy Pearson, frustrated Lancashire at Fitzwilliam today as the struggled to 102-9. Staffordshire had just six overs of their innings when heavy rain caused the match to be abandoned and the teams shared the points.
England's Hannah Lloyd built Somerset a solid platform today against Hampshire, reaching 78 before being run out. She and Stephanie Davies shared a first wicket stand of 150, with Laura Harper (23) and Jackie Hawker remaining unbeaten at the end.
Hampshire had reached 20-0 in reply when heavy showers prevented further play at Emmanuel College; and following the Duckworth-Lewis calculation, Somerset were declared winners by one run.
