Barbados' captain Philo Wallace warmed up for the upcoming regional Red Stripe Bowl One-Day competition, scoring 81 in the first trial match at Carlton Club, yesterday. Wallace, batting in his usual robust manner also showed his defence was fined tuned as he geared up in cloured clothing. The tall opener struck six fours and three sixes off 123 ball, before giving his wicket away by pulling a ball from Antonio Mayers to Sean Graham at deep mid-on.
The former West Indies batsman who was sixth out was the person who primarily piloted Team 'B', to 170 for eight, after Team 'A' put together to 168 for six in 50 overs. No other batsman showed confidence with extras (16) being next best to Wallace.
Teenage left-arm spinner Anderson Sealy took three for 23 off six overs.
Batting first, Team 'A' could credit their total to Sean Graham who was unbeaten on 67 at the end of the 50 overs, as he hit three fours and a six in his 86 ball knock.
He was supported by cousin Hattian Graham with 30 and opener Michael Maynard 26. The Grahams shared a sixth-wicket stand of 62 after Team 'A' found themselves 94 for five.
Left-arm seamer Ian Bradshaw had two wickets for 33, while Sulieman Benn and Ryan Hurley bowled tight spells.
