DHAKA, Thursday - Sri Lankan skipper Arjuna Ranatunga said that he was
determined to win the Wills ICC Trophy Cup which is also described as
the Mini World Cup with all Test playing nations taking part here in
Bangladesh from October 24 to November 1.
"We have come to win the trophy and not to go empty handed. We are
confident that we could take another trophy home. The England tour has
given us a tremendous boost," said Ranatunga.
He further said that the rains that prevailed prior to the tour which
kept them off the field with inadequate practice is the only hitch.
"We were confined to indoors and the bowlers and the fielding aspect
virtually came to a standstill," said Ranatunga.
The Sri Lankans have received a bye and will be playing New Zealand or
Zimbabwe depending on the outcome of the result of that match to be
played on Saturday.
Sri Lanka has strengthened their bowling attack with the inclusion of
Chaminda Vaas and Nuwan Soysa both left armers. Mahanama's coming back
will no doubt add muscle to the middle order.

Bangkok. Former West Indian paceman Michael Holding was there to greet
the team along with some organisers of the tournament.
However confident, the new tie breaker system is a minimum number of
15 overs had not been bowled, is introduced any good side is capable
of being eliminated.
