  • Curtly Ambrose became the seventh-highest wicket-taker in Tests, overtaking Pakistan's Imran Khan with 366 wickets in 88 matches.
  • It was the 22nd time Ambrose has captured five or more wickets in an innings.
  • In Brian Lara's 82-ball century was the third fastest 100 by a West Indian, behind Viv Richards' 56-ball effort against England on the same ground in 1986 and left-handed opener Roy Fredericks' 71-ball century against Australia in Perth,1975-76.
  • It was Lara's 13th hundred in 63 Tests, his fifth against Australia and his third at the Recreation Ground
  • It was the second time Lara had made three centuries in successive Tests. The previous was in England in 1996.
  • Lara passed 500 runs in the series when he was 61.
  • Arthur Barrett, former West Indies legspinner, was born 55 years ago today in Jamaica.
  • Sir Garry Sobers and Rohan Kanhai, ex-West Indies captains, played their last day of Test cricket on this day in 1974.
