The U16 SATELLITE TOURNAMENT, hosted by Western Province Cricket Association, proved to be a great success in terms of our visiting teams, even though the rain threatened to wipe out our matches on Sunday 24th and Monday 25th September 2000.
Very innovatively the organisers shifted the matches on these days to synthetic wickets so that cricket could continue and the visitors were ecstatic about the opportunity to play. Only one match could not be completed due to rain - South Western Districts vs Griqualand West.
South Western Districts fared well and managed to win all their matches - this undoubtedly argues well for their cricketing future.
