India B 134 for 2 (Mayank 36, Parag 27*, Saini 2-36) trail India A 321 (Musheer 181, Saini 56, Akash Deep 4-60, Khaleel 2-54) by 187 runs
Until last week, Navdeep Saini hadn't touched a red ball for over seven months. He was hoping to ease himself into the season with a steady diet of white-ball cricket courtesy of the Delhi Premier League (DPL). But when the Duleep Trophy call-up came, as a late replacement for Mohammed Siraj, he had to hit the ground running.
Two days in, Saini has already had a bigger influence on the game than he may have imagined. A mix of stoic defence and the occasional free swing brought him an excellent half-century, his second in first-class cricket. He occupied the crease for 349 minutes, his longest vigil, during the course of a magnificent 205-run stand for the eighth wicket with Musheer Khan as India B recovered from 94 for 7 to post 321.

Josh Inglis' 43-ball century gives Australia series win

He helped Australia pille up 196 before Scotland were bowled out for 126 with Stoinis and Green picking up a combined 6 for 39

Australia 196 for 4 (Inglis 103, Green 36, Currie 3-37) beat Scotland 126 (McMullen 59, Stoinis 4-23, Green 2-16) by 70 runs
In conditions where every other batter from both sides struggled for timing, Josh Inglis struck the ball with remarkable fluency on his way to the fastest T20I hundred by an Australia batter. He brought up the milestone in 43 balls, beating the previous record - held jointly by himself, Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell - by four balls, and finished with 103 off 49.
To put the innings in context, the rest of Australia's top six scored 89 off 73 balls between them. His innings laid the foundation of Australia's 70-run win over Scotland and also helped them take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

England 221 for 3 (Pope 103*, Duckett 86) vs Sri Lanka
Ollie Pope planted his front foot, fixed his eyes on the ball, puffed out his cheeks and cut to the boundary to raise a century that mattered.
Every one matters, of course, but with England all over Sri Lanka on the opening day of this third Test and in a series already won, this was personal.
Pope's seventh Test ton, scored against as many different opposition teams in a first for the game, came amid the intense pressure of four previous failures in a series where he is standing in for injured captain Ben Stokes. That role in itself has thrust Pope under greater scrutiny but Stokes' knowing nod as he applauded the milestone from the changing-room balcony said it all, appreciating a defiant innings that was right up his street.

Axar Patel's all-round skills light up first day of Duleep Trophy

He scored a counterattacking 86 and then took two wickets in two overs to leave the game in the balance

India C 91 for 4 (Porel 32*, Rana 2-13, Axar 2-16) trail India D 164 all out (Axar 86, Vyshak 3-19, Kamboj 2-47) by 73 runs
Axar Patel bolstered his credentials as one of the country's most important all-round players on the first day of the Duleep Trophy, scoring a remarkable half-century to carry India D out of severe trouble in Anantapur. He then came back to pick up two wickets in two overs as well to ensure a game that could have slipped away from his team now remains in the balance.
Anantapur more than lived up to its reputation of being a fast-bowler friendly venue. A wicket fell in the very first over of the game, which set the trend in the early going as India C, having opted to bowl, cut through the opposition top order, leaving them at 34 for 5. It was difficult even for players on the fringes of the Indian Test team as Shreyas Iyer and Devdutt Padikkal ended up with scores of 9 and 0. Karnataka fast bowler Vijaykumar Vyshak was responsible for much of this damage and the threat he posed continued throughout the day. He finished with figures of 12-3-19-3.

India B 202 for 7 (Musheer 105*, Jaiswal 30, Saini 29*, Akash 2-28, Khaleel 2-39, Avesh 2-42) vs India A
From the characteristic crouch in his stance to the backlift and manner of defending, it's hard to miss Musheer Khan's uncanny resemblance to older brother Sarfaraz. And the similarities don't end there. Both have a penchant for big scores, even if their modus operandi are entirely different.
Sarfaraz is all about gung-ho aggression and there's an enterprise to his game that's hard to miss. On Thursday, the opening day of the Duleep Trophy game between India A and India B in Bengaluru, he arched back to ramp his fifth delivery over the close-in cordon off a rip-roaring Khaleel Ahmed, soon after the openers had departed in quick succession.

Ollie Robinson shows Sussex he's still got it, even as England turn the page

Sussex 118 for 2 (Hughes 35) beat Lancashire 114 (Livingstone 43, Jennings 37) by eight wickets
It is not hard to imagine a world in which Ollie Robinson spent Wednesday preparing to lead England's attack against Sri Lanka at The Oval. Instead, with weeks left to run on his central contract, he spearheaded Sussex's charge into T20 Blast Finals Day at a sold-out Hove - first with the ball, and then in the field with a bullseye run-out of Liam Livingstone.
It was a performance that left Sussex's captain, Tymal Mills, pushing Robinson's credentials on the franchise circuit. "Hopefully, he picks up some more T20 gigs off the back of it," Mills said. "I don't know what's going to happen with him England-wise in red-ball cricket, but he's shown he's a very skilful new-ball bowler."
