Leicestershire's score of 313-9 from 104 overs in their championship match
against Surrey at Guildford was a considerable improvement on their
performance when the two teams met previously just a few days ago, and would
have been better still but for an excellent spell by quick bowler Martin
Bicknell who took 6-70.
Ben Smith, who had made a double-century against Surrey at The Oval two years ago, made 102 with 15 fours in his stay of 191 balls and 263 minutes. He shared half-century stands with Ian Sutcliffe, Aftab Habib and captain Vince Wells without any really taking hold of the match.

help Durham hold back Lancashire's spinners at Manchester.
The visitors reached 355-9 after electing to bat first on a very dry pitch.
Gary Keedy (4-99) was the most successful of the three home spinners, and
Lancashire might have made better progress if their bowling and fielding had
been sharper. Glen Chapple, who yielded 13 in the opening over, broke
through first by bowling Michael Gough.

Shane Warne enjoyed himself at Kent's expense to give Hampshire the best of
their championship match at Portsmouth. First he made 69, his highest score
since joining the county, and then when Kent began their reply to Hampshire's 320 the Australian leg-spinner dismissed two batsmen in his first over.
Pugnacious Warne struck 56 runs in boundaries, which included sixes from David Masters and Min Patel, and then was bowled moving out to drive the latter. He increased his previous highest for Hampshire by 19 by is still a way of his ambition of hitting his first hundred.

In spite of being put in to bat the hosts made 404-5 in their Division Two championship match. The visiting bowlers got none of the expected help from the green-tinged pitch on a fine summer's day. Bevan and Montgomerie came together when Toby Peirce was out at 45 off an inside-edge to Andrew Harris. They put on 292 runs in 68 overs before getting out in consecutive overs.

Ian Harvey is determined to shed his reputation as a specialist one-day
player and become highly regarded in all forms of cricket.
The Gloucestershire all-rounder is particularly renowned for his ability to
bowl tightly at the death in limited overs games, a skill which has helped
his county win three successive Lord's final.
But when he puts his mind to it Harvey can be pretty economical in four-day
cricket too, as Warwickshire found to their cost after winning the toss in
excellent batting conditions at Cheltenham.

Kuwait innings
The match was played at National Stadium Karachi, one of the best cricket venues in the world. Kuwait won the toss and elected to bat. Apparently weighing too heavy against an in-experienced Bahrain, Kuwait played an innings in which every batsman contributed his share of runs.
In 39 overs Kuwait had reached 236 for the loss of 5 wickets. The rate of scoring that they maintained indicated that they were really out for an adventure. Opener Zeeshan Sabri smashed 6 fours in his 36 runs scored in 43 balls. Similarly Ajesh Mathew had 5 fours in his score of 51. Hasan Arif's 63 in 40 balls with 5 fours and a grand six was a classical exhibition of hurricane hitting.
Except for Taimur Ashraf who remained not out with a marvelous innings of 66 in 45 balls with 4 fours and a six, the batsmen who followed were out cheaply. Kuwait ended its innings with a gigantic total of 294 for 8, the highest score of the tournament so far. The wickets having been evenly shared no bowler emerged with distinction.

Th match commenced at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium Karachi with Nepal winning the toss and opting to field first.
Bangladesh opened the innings with Mohammad Ashraful and Nafees Iqbal losing the 1st wicket at a score of 20 when Nafees was run out for 6. Ashraful and Shafiul Alam took the score to 88 when Shafiul alam was out after scoring 27 runs.
While the wickets kept falling after regular intervals, Ashraful continued to dominate the field punishing all types of bowling. He was run out after scoring prolific 102 runs in 131 balls. His innings contained 7 fours and 2 fantastic sixers. Nasir ud Din 23 and Shariful Islam 27 not out were the other contributors to the total. Bangladesh ended up with an impressive total of 225 for the lost of 4 wickets.

The match was played at the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Ground Karachi. Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first. They opened the innings with Harish Ratnayake and Ishan Mutalip. They lost the 1st wicket at 33 when Harish was bowled by Indran for 9. The 2nd wicket also fell at 48. Ehsan Mutalip, however, remained in command of the game punishing the Malaysian bowlers well and proper. After playing an aggressive innings of 61 he was trapped LBW by Sathiswaran. His excellent innings that spanned over 70 balls contained 5 fours. Sri Lanka was now 117 for 3.
Another enterprising innings that mounted Sri Lanka's total was played by Jehan Jayasuriya who scored a scintillating 69 in 63 balls included 6 exciting hits to the boundary and a towering six. The 4th wicket was down at 185. In 38 overs, Sri Lanka was 213 for 4.
The third batsman who joined in Sri Lanka's grand run spree was Jeewan Mendis who contributed valiant 65 in 59 balls with the help of 5 fours. Supplemented by 37 extras conceded by Malaysia, Sri Lanka ended the innings with a massive total of 289 for the loss of 8 wickets. B. Indran clinched 4 wickets for 61 runs.

Playing at the National Stadium Karachi, Saudi Arabia won the toss and elected to bat. Fahad Hameed the opener and Basit Butt, batted confidently raising the score to 40 when Fahad was bowled by Indran for 12. Basit Butt, who was run out after playing an enterprising innings of 41 in 41 balls, including 6 thrilling boundaries, followed him. Mudassar Farooq was the other batsman who contributed a useful 26 with four hits to the boundary. In 20 overs Saudi Arabia was 94 for 5.
Rabea Zubair who came in to bat played a tremendous innings punishing the bowlers all over the field till Vickneswaran bowled him. He played a splendid innings of 55 runs scored in 62 balls with the help of 5 boundaries. Bilal Qureshi who kept his company at the crease was run out after scoring an exciting 39 in 34 balls with 5 hits to the boundary.
Saudi Arabia was all out for a handsome total of 213 in 43.3 overs, Junaid Hasham remaining not out with 20. S. Vickneswaranwho launched the bowling attack for Malaysia ended up with a haul of 4 for 23.

In the match played at the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) ground Karachi, Singapore batted first and were all out for 115 runs.
The opening pair of Zeng Penchun and Sidarth Verma provided the team a solid start of 54 when Sidarth was out after scoring 27 runs with the help of two 4s. The 2nd wicket fell immediately when Anand Sanrthanam was run out for a duck. Except for Zeng Renchun who scored a steady 21 and Nishant (11 not out) no other batsman could hold the crease with confidence.The whole team was thus out for 115 runs in 34 overs. The UAE bowlers being too wayward bowled 18 wides in a total of 30 extras. Aamir Shahzad was however, the most successful bowler for clinching 4 wicket for 24 runs.
