1.6 to Rahmanullah Gurbaz, catch it is the cry, and deep square leg takes it tumbling forward! The Ayub ploy works a charm, and Gurbaz is disappointed! Shortish on middle and leg, and this seems to skid on a little. Keeps a tad low too and Gurbaz, swiping across the line, clinks it a mile up. Hasan Nawaz settles under it and even though he seems to misjudge it slightly, he redeems himself with a dive forward. Big moment early in the game!. 10/1

15.2 to Sediqullah Atal, caught at long on, and Atal's stay has been cut short! Slower ball banged into the track outside off. Atal looks to muscle it but the lack of pace means he does not generate the requisite power. Cloths it flat towards long on, where Hasan Nawaz runs in a little and slides forward to his right to gobble up the chance. Another tone-setting knock, although Atal will feel he left a few runs out there!. 123/2 17.3 to Azmatullah Omarzai, goes straight up, and Faheem takes it off his own bowling! Slower ball on a length outside off and this completely deceives Omarzai. He swipes at it way too early and the ball skews straight up. Faheem calls for it, runs back and takes it nicely over his shoulder. Vital wicket, given the damage Omarzai can inflict!. 145/3 17.5 to Ibrahim Zadran, goes a mile up, and pouched this time! Faheem is having a field day in Sharjah! Yet another slower ball and it seems that Zadran, despite spending so much time at the crease, cannot pick it either. A bit of tennis-ball bounce too and Zadran ends up tugging at it too much. Spoons it towards deep mid wicket, where Mohammad Nawaz does the rest!. 146/4 19.2 to Mohammad Nabi, miscued, and taken! Faheem has four! The slower ball is working like an absolute charm for Faheem today and it leads to another dismissal. This is wide outside off and on a length. Nabi gets under it a little too much and chips it towards extra cover. Fakhar runs back and then takes it in front of his face. Afghanistan losing their way!. 161/5 |

1.1 to Saim Ayub, banged in short, and Ayub is on his way! This is a sharp delivery, just outside off and climbing through to Ayub. He hacks across the line but the ball gets too big on him. All he manages is a feather through to the keeper and Gurbaz accepts the offering with utmost glee. Pakistan rocked early!. 8/1 3.2 to Sahibzada Farhan, hot knife through butter, and Farooqi is absolutely pumped! Back of a length outside off and this decks back in sharply. Keeps a little low as well and Farhan, caught on the crease, has no clue the ball is going to come back, and that it is going to come back that sharply. Gets cut in half and off stump is knocked back. Farhan trudges off, and Farooqi has two in his opening spell!. 29/2

15.1 to Mohammad Nawaz, a wild hack across the line, and that will be that for Nawaz with the bat! Googly on a back of a length outside off. Nawaz opens up his stance and swings for the hills. Does not account for the spin, or the angle, and the ball skews straight up. Atal runs in from backward point and completes the catch. Rashid is all smiles, and that is another significant blow to Pakistan's hopes!. 103/7 15.2 to Shaheen Shah Afridi, stumps go splat, and Rashid is weaving his magic now! Leg-spinner given a touch of air on a length on middle stump. Shaheen's eyes light up and he has designs to hit this onto the road. He gets his front foot out of the way but misses his slog completely, which is largely down to the turn Rashid extracts. The ball sneaks past his swinging blade and then thunders into the stumps. Rashid, all of a sudden, is on a hat-trick!. 103/8

7.4 to Fakhar Zaman, sliced and taken! Nabi has the last laugh! Fired in shorter on off, and this seems to just hold in the surface. Fakhar has a big swish at it but the lack of pace does for him. The ball spirals towards short third and Farooqi makes no mistake whatsoever. Nabi is overjoyed; Fakhar and Pakistan, not quite!. 62/3 11.3 to Mohammad Haris, holes out to deep mid wicket, and Pakistan sink further! This is a bit of a drag-down and to be fair to Haris, this deserves to travel. He sits back in his crease but just does not get the purchase he wants on the pull. A tame effort in the end and Rasooli, running in from deep mid wicket, sends Haris back to the shed!. 82/6

10.1 to Hasan Nawaz, Noor Ahmad into the wickets instantly! Fired in very full just outside leg. H Nawaz looks to sweep it away but makes a terrible mess of it. The ball loops up, quite possibly off the back of the pad and short fine leg snares the chance without much fuss. Not the greatest ball Noor will ever bowl, but he will take that with both hands!. 75/5 16.6 to Faheem Ashraf, through Faheem, and Noor has two as well! Back of a length on off, and this seems to keep a touch low. Faheem, shaping for the pull, does not read the one going away either, and is too early into his swish. The ball sneaks under his blade and then cannons into off stump. Afghanistan one wicket away from a resounding win!. 111/9 |
