Full-length delivery shaping away from off, crunches it to deep cover-point and that'll do nicely for TSK who have got their first win of the season! They've won by seven wickets and 43 balls to spare. An utterly dominating performance! The bowlers set it up for them with M. Mohsin doing the most damage.
SF vs Texas, 7th Match at Morrisville, MLC, Jul 10 2024 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Texas won by 7 wickets (with 43 balls remaining)
Mohammad Mohsin, Most Valuable Player: Great effort from fast bowlers; they set up the tone for us. We just kept it simple, stumps-to-stumps bowling was key. They had to hit against the wind so hitting stumps worked. Nice to contribute towards the team's win, doesn't matter being a local but, yes, it does give me more confidence. The presence of international stars helps us. Even last year we had Imran Tahir and I learned a lot from him.
That's it from our MLC coverage today. Join us tomorrow for the match between Seattle Orcas and Washington Freedom. For now, on behalf of Binoy George, this is Rvel Zahid saying goodbye!
SFU had a slim chance of winning with only 128 to defend after losing the plot with the bat. A combination of unimaginative shots and succumbing to the pressure of dots meant they could only scrape their way to a below-par score, which didn't cause any trouble for TSK. Faf du Plessis, fresh off a blazing century, took on the bowlers and joined forces with Devon Conway to get them off to a flier in the powerplay. After that, it was one-way traffic. Hassan Khan did pick up a few wickets in the middle, but it was too little, too late. SFU's big guns misfired today and will have a lot to ponder. Mohsin, the pick of the bowlers, returned 4/13 while DJ Bravo snapped up two wickets in his three overs. Everybody chipped in and it was a well-knit bowling effort from TSK, which will please Faf du Plessis who's still loving the game and going strong. This massive NRR-boosting win has catapulted TSK to the top of the table.
Short ball angled in at fifth stump outside off, rides the bounce, rolls his wrists and plays an under-controlled pull to deep square's left, scores are level
On a length at middle and leg, works it to deep square
Back of a length on middle, closes his wrists and keeping it down to mid-on with minimal fuss
Thunderbolt! Over the wicket, shorter and slanting in from outside off, punched into the covers
Changes the angle and gets munched down the ground for an enormous six, over the wicket angle made it easier for him to get behind the line, clean swing of the bat, 348 feet monstrous hit. They're doing this at a canter
Slightly overpitched on middle, threatens to advance down the track and plink it out to mid-on who stops with a well-timed intervention
Good length and just outside off, gives himself room and punched it crisply to deep cover-point as the ball wriggles away
Hassan Khan bags his second as TSK lose another while attempting to seal off the game quickly. Beautifully tossed up fuller and spinning away outside off, gave him extra air and his eyes lit up, went hard but didn't get the middle, hits lower on his bat and he knew he mistimed it completely, Allen with a safe catch at long-off
Tossed up right up to the toes, flicked around the corner
Round the wicket, length on middle, tries to smash Hassan into the stands over long-on, it was slower, didn't get all of it and found Couch who pouched it perfectly into his big bucket hands. Something to rejoice for SFU
Down on one knee and uncoils a glorious slog over deep midwicket for a huuuuuuuge six, it's gone out of the park. Clean hitting. Magnificent shot!
Fuller length angling into middle, leans back and pats it to Abrar's right
Slightly shorter legbreak spinning away outside off, powerfully cut away to deep point for a run
Tossed up right up to the toes, nudged to midwicket
Oh, that's a biggee and right out of the screws! Shifts back his weight and smashes it over deep midwicket for a six, racing towards the target, timing was incredible
Slip in place, Googly on middle, calmed down to long-on and insouciantly jogs through a run
Goes back, splays his front-foot out to midwicket and then powers it away in front of square leg
Backs away a touch, holds his shape and plays a picturesque inside-out lofted drive over cover for a four
Length on middle, worked off the pads to midwicket
