that's the game. Narine's superb cameo seals the win. A tad short there was Raees on the pad, Narine stands tall and pulls in the gap behind square for four. A clinical chase. Islamabad were simply outplayed and outclassed in this game.
United vs Qalandars, 4th Match at Dubai, Feb 11 2017 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Qalandars won by 6 wickets (with 10 balls remaining)
7.00pm A chase led by Jason Roy and some handy cameos from various quarters lead Lahore Qalandars to their first win of the tournament. After the first two overs, in which Lahore plundered 36, Islamabad were always behind the game. In the end, they had at least 20 runs short and the Qalandars cruised home. That's not all for Saturday, another game coming from Dubai. We'll be back for that too.
Presentation time.
Jason Roy is the Man of the Match: "Yesterday a gutting loss but an outstanding turnaround. A different innings today, felt like I had to bat through. Could have been a lot closer than it was."
Misbah-ul-Haq: "We were 20-25 runs short, was a 180 pitch. We couldn't settle down. All about momentum, once they got so many runs in the first two overs, they had momentum. The pitch was offering nothing to spinners, it was coming on nicely. I'm happy I scored some runs, has been a horrible last couple of months."
Brendon McCullum: "Today we improved. Rained a bit, the wicket skidded on. Today we kept them 20 under par, and we chased it comfortably. Some of our bugger guys stood up. Trying to bring out a consistent role and try to take out the variables. A line in the sand for us."
bouncer on middle and leg, pulled away to fine leg
short of a length, worked away to midwicket
looks for the yorker, misses and that is four. Narine muscles a drive past cover for another boundary
strays down leg, did it brush the pad? Yes says the umpire. A legal delivery
on a length on middle, pulled down to long-on. Clever stuff from Roy
another yorker on middle and leg, off the pad towards gully
excellent yorker from Sami outside off. Narine is beaten for pace.
another powerful muscular drive. Watson errs too full and Roy belts the ball back past mid-off for four. That should be the game too
drilled down to long-off for a run
six more. On the pad, Narine stays in his crease and helps the ball over fine leg with a neat swipe. Enough on it. Aided by the bad line
clears cover this time. Watson delivers this a little wide, allowing Narine the room to drive up and over. Nice timing. Decisive blows these
a bouncer on off, Narine is beaten trying to pull. Well bowled
pulled and clears square leg. Narine doing his batting credentials no harm. A short delivery on middle, Narine sits back and whacks the ball over square leg. Shot
A tad under 8 RPO required. Roy is still there
pushed away towards point for a run. Nice and tight from Ajmal, nothing full, nothing short.
flicked away to deep square leg for a run
Narine comes out
still in it are Islamabad. Flat delivery outside off, Elliott sweeps but gets a top edge which is easily taken by deep backward square leg. Always a risk playing with a cross bat to Ajmal because of the number of revs he imparts.
flat outside off, Roy stays back and pummels a flat-batted push to long-off
comes down and gets enough on that. Huuuuge. Got underneath the length and sent it to the second tier to get to his fifty.
Roy runs down and works the ball to midwicket. No spin. Slid that one through
Ajmal returns
