Full commentary

That'll all from us tonight. Stick around for a look at Vish Ehantharajah's thoughts from Emirates Old Trafford, and we'll be back tomorrow for Trent Rockets vs Birmingham Phoenix. Cheers!

Faf du Plessis: "I thought the wicket was a little bit two-paced but we have a nice long batting lineup and that helps. Everything is difficult with the time you have in the Hundred. We didn't take the timeout so we thought we had extra time... [161 above par?] I thought that last 7 or 8 balls, especially with the extra fielder in. It made the bowlers not sure exactly what to do. I thought walking off that they were 10 runs over par, which is why we went harder in the powerplay. Wiese is an experienced campaigner, getting better and better."

Adam Lyth is the Match Hero. "We spoke about trying to take charge of the powerplay and we did that. Great to get over the line at the end there. In the powerplay it came on quite nicely. It didn't spin that much but it held a little bit. With our batting lineup and how strong it was, we were hopeful we'd get over the line and we did. Last year wasn't too good for us and hopefully we can be a lot better this year. Good to get off to a good start with a win."

Nick: "Why oh why bowl a slow bowler in the last 15 balls?"

Superchargers are off the mark with a brilliant win, chasing down 162 with six balls to spare on a slow pitch at Emirates Old Trafford. It wasn't an easy pitch to get started on, but Originals lost their way with the bat in the middle of their innings and then struggled with the ball.

94
4
Abbott to Wiese, FOUR runs

short and into the pitch, Wiese flashes up and over short third for four to ice the chase!

93
6
Abbott to Wiese, SIX runs

slower ball, swung over wide long-on for six! Wiese picks the slower ball and frees his arms, crashing Abbott over the leg side

Originals have missed the cut-off. Extra man comes into the ring. Extra cover and midwicket are both in tight

92
1
Abbott to Brook, 1 run

hard length, rushed on the pull. They charge through for a single to mid-on as Buttler scampers in and throws at the bowler's end, but his fling is wide of the stumps... needed a direct hit

91
1
Abbott to Wiese, 1 run

slower ball on the pads, flicked to short fine leg where Hartley tumbles to his left and cuts it off

Superchargers' to lose from here after that last set. Abbott to finish his allocation for the night. Originals are tight on time and only have one minute left

Hartley to Brook, SIX runs

dragged down, Brook rocks back and monsters it over midwicket for the second six of the set! Poor from Hartley, a real freebie, and Brook hammers it into the stand

89
2
Hartley to Brook, 2 runs

short and wide, slashed out to deep extra cover. Evans cuts it off

88
6
Hartley to Brook, SIX runs

87
2
Hartley to Brook, 2 runs

low full toss, Brook is late on the shot which skews away over Parkinson at short fine leg. Plugs in the outfield after the top-edge

86

David Wiese4 (3b)
Harry Brook14 (13b)
Matt Parkinson 1/20 (20)

1 for 20 from Parkinson from his 20 balls. Excellent spell, game-changing.

85
1
Parkinson to Wiese, 1 run

84
2
Parkinson to Wiese, 2 runs

83
1
Parkinson to Brook, 1 run

hacked down to long-on, Brook struggling with the lack of pace

82
1
Parkinson to Wiese, 1 run

hint of turn, pushed through the infield and out to deep cover

Wiese is the new man. Very handy finisher in this sort of scenario but had a bit of a shocker with the ball and in the field. Slip in.

81
W
Parkinson to Willey, OUT

Willey skips down... and picks out deep midwicket! Used his feet, then looked to slog-sweep over the long boundary, but straight down Abbott's throat on the rope

David Willey c Abbott b Parkinson 29 (21b 1x4 2x6) SR: 138.09

Parkinson. Huge final set of five for him. 35 off 20.

banged in short, Willey top-edges the pull over the short side for six! Swatted away, 89 metres over midwicket and into the stands
