Division One
Glamorgan v Sussex at Swansea
Sourav Ganguly will make his debut for Glamorgan against Sussex. Jonathan Hughes - who was in in the side that lost to Hampshire last week - will make way for Ganguly, India's Test captain. Glamorgan will be without the fast bowler Simon Jones, who is on England duty at Chester-le-Street in the second Test and so Adam Harrison will come in for him. Sussex welcome back Tim Ambrose to their squad which is otherwise unchanged from their encounter with Middlesex in the last round.
Kent v Gloucestershire at Maidstone
Matt Windows is back in Gloucestershire's squad after recent hamstring problems. Their left-arm spinner Ian Fisher also returns and will offer another spin option alongside Upul Chandana. Craig Spearman continues to be missing from the squad owing to personal reasons. Kadeer Ali and James Averis have both been omitted. Jon Lewis could be recalled if he is left out of the England Test team. For Kent, Amjad Khan, the Denmark international, comes in for the seam bowler Martin Saggers. Niall O'Brien continues to keep in the absence of Geraint Jones, who is with the England squad.
Nottinghamshire v Hampshire at Trent Bridge
AJ Harris is back in contention for Nottinghamshire after recovering from a broken thumb, and will boost a threadbare bowling attack as they take on Hampshire in a top-of-the-table tussle at Trent Bridge. Graeme Swann could also play what would be his first match this term, after suffering from shoulder problems. Oliver Newby, who is on loan from Lancashire, won't be fit to play, however, as he continues to recover from a pulled stomach muscle which he damaged in Notts' last first-class match. Craig McMillan will make his championship debut for Hampshire, and Kevin Pietersen is available after being left out of England's squad for the second Test against Bangladesh. Chris Tremlett has been passed fit to play, but Dimitri Mascarenhas hasn't recovered from lower-back trouble.
Surrey v Warwickshire at Whitgift School in Croydon
The Indian offspinner Harbhajan Singh is set to make his debut for Surrey when they take on Warwickshire at Whitgift School. And he is adamant that the controversy surrounding his bowling action - he was recently cleared of throwing - will not hamper his efforts. "I'm not upset with anyone," he told reporters. "I'm just happy the waiting is over and I can get on with playing cricket." Nick Warren has been added to the Warwickshire side which defeated Hampshire by ten wickets in the last round. But Warwickshire have been dealt a double blow - Ian Bell will miss out once more as he will be with the England squad and Dewald Pretorius has flu - although this is tempered by the return of Naqqash Tahir who has recovered from a back problem.
Division Two
Essex v Derbyshire at Chelmsford
Tim Phillips, the left-arm spinner, has been added to the Essex squad, following their draw against Yorkshire. They are still without Alex Tudor (knee), Graham Napier (heel) and Andy Clarke (ankle). However, Tudor's injury is described by the club physio, Damien West, as "nothing serious" and it is hoped he will return soon. Derbyshire have included Ben France, a batsman, and allrounder Mo Sheikh for their first Championship games of the season. France replaces Hasan Adnan, who has made just 136 runs at 15 in five matches.
Lancashire v Northamptonshire at Old Trafford
Gary Keedy and Sajid Mahmood are recalled to the Lancashire side after missing the trip to Taunton last week. Andrew Flintoff is on international duty while Kyle Hogg is a long-term absentee with a groin injury, which will take 4-6 weeks to heal. Northants, still winless this season, add Charl Pietersen and Andrew White to their squad. Pietersen, the left-arm seamer who took 7 for 10 against Denmark in the C&G Trophy, will be contesting Steffan Jones for the last bowling slot.
Leicestershire v Somerset at Oakham School
Leicestershire have named an unchanged 12-man squad for the Championship match against Somerset at Oakham School. James Whitaker keeps faith with the players who secured Leicestershire's first Championship win of the season, a four-wicket success against Derbyshire. Graeme Smith will make his Somerset debut amid the discussions about how long his stay will now be, after South African officials said he needed more rest.
Worcestershire v Durham at Worcester
Steven Davies, the England under-19 batsman and reserve Worcestershire wicketkeeper, could make his Championship debut. He would replace Stephen Peters who is averaging 19 from five Championship matches. Gareth Batty is on international duty with England at Chester-le-Street. Martyn Moxon, Durham's coach, has named a 13-man squad. Nathan Astle and Ashley Noffke are set for their Durham Championship debuts, while the left-arm spinner Graeme Bridge returns. Mark Turner, a Durham development player, is included and could make his debut.
