God, I'm tired and groggy!
Jessica and Adrienne are already asleep, and sitting here in my hotel room I feel a certain kind of calm. Down below I can see the streetlights as Bangalore goes to sleep.
The idea to write some sort of a daily journal came during the marathon 21-hour transatlantic flight. It was more of a personal thing because this trip means so much for me and the Gals, because of its uniqueness and diversity. Back home in America I have been part of cheerleading assignments for NFL, American Football and Hockey (the NHL), but cricket? A week before taking the flight I did not even know how the game was played. Not that I know a lot now, but having watched a few DVDs I am now excited. Looks kinda like baseball with three sticks.
For most of us this is our first trip to India. Oh the sights, sounds, smell and colours, the incredible traffic and the pollution. The first impression is still kinda blurred in my brain. It was hot as we made our way from the airport, and the first thing that hit me was the abundance of colour on the streets, the complete lack of any traffic rules, and the sheer number of people everywhere.
Tomorrow is a weekend, and probably the only one we will get to spend in India before we fly out to South Africa for the games, and the gals have a complete itinerary. We plan to shop like crazy, get to understand the dynamics of wearing a sari, and check out Commercial Street. They say the best bargains are out there.
So watch out, Bangalore, here we come. And before I crawl into bed and shut out the lights, I just want to confess that I feel happy. A million miles away from home in a new country with new challenges. Life could not get any better. Ciao for now. Until the next update.
