Douglas Hondo is a doubt for Zimbabwe's Test series against Australia after injuring himself in a practice match. Hondo strained his thumb while playing against the club side Rockingham Mandura and is now likely to miss this week's one-day game against the Australian Cricket Board Chairman's XI, and possibly the match against Western Australia.
Geoff Marsh, the Zimbabwe coach, said: "I would say if he did not play in any of those games, he may struggle to play in the Test match because he missed the last four-day match in Zimbabwe."
It's the latest injury blow for Zimbabwe who are also without their most experienced batsman Grant Flower, who broke his thumb playing in a domestic match shortly before the squad flew out. The first Test starts on October 9 in Perth.
