CHENNAI, Jan. 19. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association has received assurances from the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Raj Singh Dungargpur, and the International Cricket Council President, Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya, that there would be no hitch to the tour of Pakistan starting this week.
Mr. Ashok Kumbhat, Secretary, TNCA, disclosed this after speaking to both officials in the wake of the attack on the BCCI office in Mumbai on Monday. Mr. Kumbhat was optimistic that everything would be in order in the next few days and also saw encouraging signs in the statements issued by Mr. Uddhav Thackeray, son of the Shiv Sena supremo, Bal Thackeray.
Actually, the TNCA was on the horns of a dilema
about the match (scheduled for January 28) comming through after reports came in about the ransacking of the BCCI headquarters by a group alleged to be Shiv Sena members, which was denied by the top brass of the party.
Mr. Kumbhat is confident that the sale of tickets, which begins on January 24, will be smooth. He, however, added that nothing has been left to chance and security wherever necessary has been strengthened with the full co-operation and assistance of the Police. He also said that the security system is being reviewed on a day-to-day basis, involving the top police officials including the Commssioner, Mr. P. Kalimuthu.
